Barber Evening Concert
One of the world’s finest violinists, James Ehnes, returns to the Barber Evening Series for a captivating evening of unrivalled virtuosity as he performs solo works by J S Bach. James Ehnes has performed in over 35 countries on five continents, appearing regularly in the world’s great concert halls and with many of the most celebrated orchestras and conductors. He has previously performed in the Barber with his quartet and as part of a duo, stunning audiences with his outstanding musicianship and mastery of the violin.

Leggett will lead this session with lots of different crafts set up for you to make together, with Claire’s help. You can make a bat hat, a spooky lantern, paper pumpkins, black cats and cotton wool ghosties, and more.
This activity is intended for 3-8 year olds.

Claire Leggett is a painter and designer with an eye for colour. Claire has experience as a teacher, and loves sharing her creativity, running courses and workshops with both children and adults.

Birmingham International Piano Festival
The European Union Chamber Orchestra make their return to Birmingham International Piano Festival having performed in the inaugural festival in 2014. We continue the theme of period performances following on from our opening lecture recital with an evening of Baroque and Classical works featuring soloists from the orchestra and guest harpsichordist, Steven Devine.
Since its formation in 1981 the orchestra has drawn members from the wealth of virtuosic musicians across Europe and remains one of the leading period performance ensembles in existence today.

Spend the evening with heart throb Martin Kemp – bassist for the legendary 80s band Spandau Ballet, star of Hollywood films and ex-EastEnders bad boy.
Martin will reminisce with the audience about his younger, wild days in one of the world’s most famous pop groups; his award winning TV career; and his 19 year marriage to Shirlie Holliman (of Pepsi and Shirley).
